So what is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is an ancient practice and a state of being. It is practiced in a reclined position (savasana) and is a guided experience that takes the listener into Hypnogogia or the Hypnogogic State, the liminal space between sleep and wakefulness. The beauty of this is that we naturally spend very little time in this space- usually just a few seconds when we fall asleep. Yoga Nidra assists us in lengthening our time in this realm, creating a direct portal to the subconscious mind, where deep magic and relief can find their way into the exhausted parts of your being.
So what are the benefits of this? Oh so many...
I'll start with my favorite. Yoga Nidra often gives people a felt experience of their true Self, their peaceful nature that is eternal and innate. Even better, it does this through a practice of non-doing, a practice of surrendering into less, instead of chasing more. We spend so much time being productive in our modern times, and I have come to feel that Yoga Nidra is the Ultimate Antidote to the stress, busyness, overwhelm, and exhaustion that so many people are facing.
A consistent Yoga Nidra practice can help with anxiety, insomnia, illness/disease, trauma, depression, and many other challenges of the human condition.
